The Heart of Our Neighborhood
A place to come together
The Middenhuis is the place where community life in the Aardehuizen comes together. Here, as neighbors, we celebrate birthdays and holidays, eat together, and get together to discuss things or just have a friendly chat. It’s an extension of our living room and something that simply had to be part of this neighborhood when it was built. It’s a true Aardehuis: built sustainably, with an eye for the nature around us, and with a warm, homey atmosphere that you feel the moment you step inside.
Because we enjoy this place so much, we also make the Middenhuis available for events and workshops.
We rent it out to people and organizations that are committed to the mission of the Aardehuizen: building, living, and thriving in harmony with nature and serving as an inspiration to the world.
We're renovating the Middenhuis!
Our community center is being made even more beautiful; the renovation is already halfway done. The new kitchen is fully ready for use (with an oven, dishwasher, and stovetop), and the large room with the sitting area can also be used. We’re still in the process of finding new furnishings for this space, though. The small room (which some of you may be familiar with) is currently still under renovation and cannot be used at this time.
The Building & Terrace
In the summer, the patio is a wonderful place to soak up some sun during your break. In the colder months, it’s a great starting point for a short walk through the greenery of our neighborhood. It’s a great way to clear your head between sessions, with a view of nature and the Aardehuizen all around you.
The Kitchen
The kitchen was built by the neighborhood residents themselves using sustainable materials, and it truly is the beating heart of the Middenhuis. There’s plenty of space to get together—for example, for a cooking workshop or to share a meal at a communal dinner. This way, eating becomes a true experience that brings people together.
The dining and sitting area
The seating area feels like a large, cozy living room. Settle in on the comfortable sofas and chat with that one colleague or your neighbor, or use it as an informal meeting spot. There’s also space at the tables to eat together, hold meetings, or run a workshop, and the atmosphere encourages open conversations and great ideas. You’ll quickly feel at home here—and so will your guests.
Rental Rates in Middenhuis
You can rent Het Middenhuis by 4 hour parts of the day or for a full day. Both rates include everything you need to get started hassle-free:
