The energy working group of Olst in Transition joined forces with a wind turbine initiative from Boskamp, located near Olst, and eventually established the Goed Veur Mekare energy cooperative. Although the wind turbines never materialized, the cooperative’s hundreds of members did make it possible to set up a number of solar farms, which together generate enough energy to supply thousands of local households with electricity. Using the profits generated, Goed Veur Mekare established a Sustainability Fund, which in turn provides (co-)financing for all kinds of local sustainable initiatives and activities.
